“Stranger Things”, first aired in 2016, is a science fiction television series with three seasons. The show is very popular, and for very good reason; the characters are very likeable and relatable and the plot is suspenseful and very engaging.
The show takes place in the 1980s in the rural town of Hawkins, Indiana, where there’s a laboratory that does research for the United States. But they also secretly experiment with paranormal and supernatural activity and in doing so, the scientists in this laboratory create a portal to an alternate dimension called the “Upside Down.”
The series follows the battle between creatures from the Upside Down and the people of Hawkins.
The first season is centered around the capturing of Will Byers, a young pre-teen boy, by the Demogorgon, a monster from the Upside Down. The main characters, boys Dustin, Lucas and Mike, team up with Eleven, a young girl with psychokinetic abilities, to try and save their friend Will, along with the Sheriff, Hopper.
The second season of “Stranger Things” involves similar events with Will suffering flashbacks from his time in the Upside Down. The Mind Flayer, the new monster from the Upside Down, possesses Will, making him act as a spy for the Mind Flayer’s plan to wipe out Hawkins.
While this is happening, Eleven attempts to find out more about her past and plans to help Hawkins defeat the Mind Flayer.
Season three follows Russians attempting to wreak havoc in Hawkins by building a portal to the Upside Down under Hawkins’ new mall. The same crew of kids has to fight back when the Russians summon the Mind Flayer.
The fourth season’s release date is still to be determined, but it is expected to release at some point in this upcoming year of 2021, likely in the fall; filming that started in February 2020 was halted until September due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
“Stranger Things” is a very good series with its fun and relatable characters, engaging, exciting and suspenseful plot and absolutely amazing special effects. If you haven’t watched “Stranger Things”, I greatly recommend watching it; it will be worth your time.
