On May 16th at 7 p.m, the Middletown Jazz Band and dance line held their annual “Evening of Jazz” in the MHS cafeteria to showcase the music through the ages and to play together one last time before saying goodbye to the seniors.
Students and families were able to have the full jazz club experience as they walked through the doors, complete with a live band dancers and ritzy décor that sets the mood for the night.
“You honestly think that you walked into another place, it’s a unique experience,” said Olivia Remsberg, senior dance line member.
The jazz band played several infamous selections from many different eras including Funky Town by American Band Lipps inc. , Sweet Georgia Brown by Louis Armstrong, and Car Wash by Rose Royce. Senior dance line member Logan Bramhall said that it was very impressive that the group is able to do master different styles and tempos.
While the night was in celebration of music it was also the last time the jazz band an danceline performed together before senior graduation.
“It’s bittersweet , added Bramhall , it’s one of my favorite events of the year and it’s a great way to end the season.”
Olivia Remsberg , MHS senior later said that it was horrible that she was moving and leaving the band that has been a big part of her high school experience.
However the incoming upperclassman have much more in store for next year’s Evening of Jazz as well as the fall marching band show.
Mickayla Baccorn , MHS Freshman said that excellent music and a very interesting show is on the way.
