Everything began in the fall of 2013. The idea of being an exchange student popped into my head. Now I’m 16 years old and I’m already where I want to be.
At the moment I’m enjoying my cultural experience in Maryland, USA. On Aug. 17, everything started: I flew from Duesseldor, Germany, to the USA.
Through this blog I’d like to write about my American experiences and what steps I had to take to be an exchange student.
My passions are foreign languages and cultures. I love traveling and speaking with other people. Some of my favorite classes in school are the languages: English, French and German.
Fortunately, my school in Germany always has many flyers of organizations that support any kind of exchange experience. Almost every week, I checked out the new flyers and organizations that interested me. I didn’t think about anything else. Luckily, my parents have supported my idea from the first second.
Then I was really into reading the flyers, blogs and going to meetings from the organizations and meeting former exchange students. I could not wait to start my cultural experience. I just had one main problem; I couldn’t decide to which country I should go. My favorites were the USA and Canada.
In 2014, my family and I went on vacation in the USA. We started our American tour in Miami, Florida and ended in Rhode Island. Because I was fascinated by the USA, my decision was made; I decided to spend my upcoming exchange experience here.
But don’t worry Canada, I will definitely visit you one day and I’m very excited to explore your culture and landscape too!
