The time to pick a new leader for the United States is quickly approaching. With that in mind, the race hasn’t started, yet we already have potential candidates.
In recent news Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, not to be confused with Ron Paul, stated his plan to run for the presidency with a basis of libertarianism. He stated, “Today I announce with God’s help, with the help of liberty lovers everywhere, that I’m putting myself forward as a candidate for president of the United States of America”.
Let’s just say Paul hit the ground running and he’s got a head start toward the finish line by starting his presidential campaign in Kentucky then moving to South Carolina, Nevada then Iowa in hopes to win over the public.
Along with the majority of contenders, Paul is already declaring what he wishes to do if he is the next president calling for a new and improved criminal justice and “economic freedom zones.”
There have been assumptions that he plans on winning over non-republicans with the younger generation of African Americans and Latinos. He guarantees security for colleges and universities and to impose drug-sentencing laws; with these propositions he hopes to gain another public following, one that might not normally vote for a republican.
He calls for “reform” in Washington after directly blaming both parties for the rising debt. In hope to “fix” the problem, he plans to balance the budget. “Government should be restrained and freedom should be maximized” he says.
