The new Twizzler challenge that raises awareness for autism received different views from Middletown High School students on how it works.
Instead of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, many people are trying to start a new trend of sharing a Twizzler while each person gets an end of the licorice and eats toward the middle.
Students had both positive and negative comments on how the Twizzler challenge works.
“It’s awkward if you don’t know the other person very well, but it’s still cool that you’re still spreading awareness,” said MHS sophomore Caitlin Fisher.
Not many students disapproved of the concept of the challenge, but the ones that did said that it wasn’t that great of way to spread awareness for ALS.
MHS junior Michael Derr said it’s kind of stupid and we could be “doing better things with our life.”
Other students were very optimistic about the new idea and really appreciated the thought of the new challenge.
MHS junior Courtney Green said that she thinks it’s a different challenge but that it’s still good that people are spreading awareness.
