On Feb. 2, 2016, rising freshmen as well as rising 10th and 11th graders attended the informational seminar on registration for the 2016-2017 school year at Middletown High School. The assembly began at 6:00pm and ran until 8:00pm. MHS principal, Lee Jeffrey along with each guidance counselor, Bradley George, Paula Langley and Meredith Bagnel spoke about class requirements, counselor assignments and answered questions.
Teachers set up booths in the cafeteria during the open house to advertise for their class. Students were able to walk around and look at each booth, ask the teachers questions and get a better idea of what classes MHS provides.
Hannah Miller, MHS junior said, “It was a great opportunity, especially for underclassmen, to find out what classes they are interested in taking next year.”
The students interested in doing Student Service Learning (SSL) were asked to contact Jim Zimmer, MHS transition education teacher, and fill out the form given to them by their fourth period teacher. Students are required to return the completed forms as soon as possible.
On Tuesday Feb. 2, 2016 registration forms were distributed to rising 9th, 10th and 11th graders to be filled out and returned by Friday Feb 5. Students were advised to fill out and return the form as soon as possible because it will be difficult to change a schedule for the fall semester.
The students who attended the event received vital information about next year and their future high school career. Those students are now better prepared for upcoming semesters and the possibilities for their education.
