Winter is here and although it’s easy to fall into the winter slump, this fashion season is about keeping the heat, amidst the winter dreariness. I urge you to try new things and wear things that make you feel confident. I am here to help you keep the heat this winter, and offer some ideas about the winter fashions.
In the winter it’s about keeping warm and looking good, and the perfect way to keep warm is by wearing a pair of boots. There are so many different styles that will go with any outfit.
“Dresses with moccasins or boots, and maybe with tights is what I like to wear. I kind of just throw things together,” said Middletown High School Sophomore Peyton Weikert.
My suggestion would be to get a black pair and a brown pair, so that you’re guaranteed to have a pair that matches most outfits. Wear them with jeans tucked into them so you can show them off or with a pair of leggings or tights.
For some of you who love spring fashions, you can still wear your spring dresses and skirts with leggings and tights. A new trend is liquid leggings, leggings that are leather like or shiny. This may be risky for some, but try it. My suggestion is to keep it simple though, don’t over do it.
“I love high wasted skirts or color block dresses with belts, and I usually wear leggings with my outfit too,” said MHS junior, Brittain Altolmare. Try a high waisted skirt or just a simple sweater dress. Don’t try too hard and don’t make it too complex.
The most important thing for winter is a good jacket. It’ll keep you warm and cozy all winter long. This season’s coats have emerged as hip and trendy. You can go for the classic pea coat in a chic color like green or yellow. There are also pea coats that are longer than the normal length that look good in plaid. If you’re trying for something more edgy try a leather jacket; it’ll gain you attention and make you look fabulous. But if you’re just looking to keep really warm I’d suggest a North Face jacket.
“My North Face is the best way to keep warm, I wear it all the time,” said Casey Zanowicz. They are ultra durable and super trendy.
Accessories are key this winter. Bold head bands and scarves are a good choice. Match your scarves with your outfits and with your head band too. Long necklaces and bangles are a good choice to play up your outfits. Metallic and animal print footwear are a great choice to finish off any outfit. Cheetah and zebra prints are also great options.
“This winter is about keeping warm but I always try to look cute doing it. I think accessories are key”, said Jess Elliot.
And always remember to flaunt your confidence and smile, and have a very fashionable winter.
