As the weather cools, and the leaves begin to change, it is only typical that the halls of Middletown High School are filled with chatter about the big game this week- football game that is.
Although Knights football has been successful in the past, this year’s team brings something different, which may allow them to advance farther in the playoffs this season than last.
“We have a really good team this year, and our unity is present,” said Sam Michels, a key- player on the team, who had 20 carries and rushed 162 yards in just the first game against Century.
Michels said the mutual team goal is to win states.
“Usually the seniors are the primary leaders, but this year the two classes have meshed,” said Lynott.
Lynott believes staying together will help them to achieve their goal of states- going that “one game further”.
In order to beat the power houses such as Tuscarora, TJ, and Catoctin, Michels thinks the team will concentrate on defense, because that’s what Middletown has primarily been known for.
Lynott has a much simpler plan, “At practice, we’re just going to strive for that higher level, and take it day by day”.
