It’s that time of year again. Students are sweating, spending sleepless nights worrying over the Godzilla of senior year: The College Application.
Middletown High School seniors are trudging through the dreaded process of applying to college. Teachers are writing letters of recommendation and the guidance office is preparing hundreds of transcripts. It is a stressful time for everyone involved.
MHS senior Jon Weiland is applying to five separate colleges. He said it takes a few weeks to complete each college application. Weiland said that he deals with the stress by, “remembering that all of the hard work will pay off.”
“I just take one step at a time,” MHS senior Coni Kroll said.
MHS senior Tori Rothenhoefer said to decrease stress, she “spreads out the work load.” She said she only completes one section of an application each day.
Though the process is lengthy, the new opportunities make it worth the struggle.
“My philosophy in picking colleges has been academics first,” MHS senior Katelyn Rossick said. She said she wants a school she can feel comfortable spending the next four years of her life at.
MHS senior Matthew Thomas said he wants to be “challenged academically, physically, and mentally,” while majoring in the field of aeronautical engineering.
“I want to meet new people,” Kroll said.
Do not despair, MHS class of 2010. The application process will be over soon, and college is just around the corner.
