UK-based pop band Rixton made a name for themselves when their single “Me and My Broken Heart” hit U.S. airwaves and landed at #6 on the charts. The foursome from Manchester England capitalized on YouTube, posting covers that included an acoustic version of Chris Brown’s “Don’t Wake Me Up”.
The boy band includes lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist Jake Roche, lead guitarist/vocalist Charley Bagnell, bassist/keyboardist/vocalist Danny Wilkin, and drummer/vocalist Lewi Morgan.
Their debut album Let the Road features ten songs including the hit “Me and My Broken Heart”, as well as their new single Hotel Ceiling”. The album offers up a blend of addictive pop and acoustic tunes created by the bands pure vocal talent, skilled instrumentation, and their own personal style of songwriting.
Just to prove that this four-piece can do anything they included the power ballad “Whole” and an acapella number “Let the Road”, to line up of remarkable harmonies. Rixton gives off a Maroon 5 sort of vibe with upbeat songs that can be somewhat risque like, “I Like Girls” and “Make Out”.
This type of musical genre is one my more favored, but it does not appeal to younger crowds. Their music can come off as suggestive, especially with their use of provocative language.
The beat of the music can be found at clubs and dances and some of their songs can be featured at several different events. Their versatility is what is helping them go along and become more known in the industry.
With the mass success of “Me and My Broken Heart” many believe they will turn out to be a one hit wonder. If they continue with their current songwriting style and catchy beats I have no doubt that they will become more well-known to the public and music industry.
However, if they become the band that only has a couple of hits and takes a long-term break, then they will slowly fade away and their fan base will be lost.
