Over the first weekend of December, the Middletown High School Future Farmers of America held pet pictures with Santa.
MHS sure wasn’t lacking holiday spirit on Dec. 1 when people brought in their pets to have a photo taken with the jolly Saint Nick.
Sarah Shriner, MHS teacher and the person who has been running this event for the past three years, says “it’s definitely a good way to get in the holiday spirit.”
The money earned benefits the Middletown FFA chapter and charity. “Money this year is going to the Heifer project which benefits needy families,” says Shriner.
Heifer International donates animals to families who need, for example, “a cow for milk or chickens for eggs.”
The turnout of the Santa pet photos is always good; however, with the Middletown Knights varsity football team attending the state championship game on the same day, Shriner was worried not many people would come to the event. Despite the interfering plans of the football team, Santa pet photos were successful this year.
Students should definitely mark their calendars for next year’s Santa pet photos.
