The Middletown High School Football Team is finishing up their successful season with a road trip to the 2A State Championships. The Knights left the regular season with a record of 9-1 and increased to12-1 by the end of playoffs.
Middletown takes on the Maurice J. McDonough Rams (12-1) on Saturday December 4, at the Baltimore Ravens Stadium. This will be the first time since 2002 that the Knights are qualified to attend states.
Middletown doesn’t have a state championship win to their name, so there’s a lot of pressure on the players, along with the coaches, and fans.
“I think were ready for McDonough, we’ve seen film on them and they are a good team but nothing we can’t handle. I think were going to come out with Middletown’s first football state championship,” said senior football player Sam Michels.
Although an article on Maxpreps.com ranks the Rams as #4 in the state, Middletown follows close behind being ranked as #7. Fans, players, cheerleaders, and coaches have faith that their team will succeed in winning states and defeat their challenging opponent.
“I think it’s awesome that we’re going to states. I would consider us the underdogs, and I don’t really think anyone expected our team to make it this far. We proved them wrong though, “said MHS junior cheerleader Carly Fisher.
The atmosphere at Middletown High School consists of spirited cheerleaders, supportive fans, and determined players, hoping for a state championship.
