This Halloween, the Middletown High School field hockey team is hosting their first ever 5k Family Fun run/walk.
The Fun Run hopes to “maintain the standing MHS athletics has always held,” according to the summary of this race on active.com.
“In order to play well, we need to have the proper equipment. Running this race allows us to raise money and bond with our team mates as well, so we can play at the top of our game,” said MHS senior Kati Rothenhoefer.
Proceeds from this event will fund a variety of areas, including field maintenance, equipment, uniforms, operations and field hockey scholarships.
“I enjoy doing these races because it’s different than any other fund raiser. Instead of just having parents donate money, we get to do something together as a team,” said MHS junior Erin Wein.
Since the run takes place on Halloween, runners are encouraged to get creative and wear costumes. To add to the incentive, prizes will be awarded for those with the best outfits.
If interested in participating in this event, register online by October 29, 2010.
