Ruth Berhe, also known as Ruth B, made her appearance in the world of music earlier this year when her song, “Lost Boy” went viral. And it’s only headed north from there.
Berhe, a 20-year-old Vine star composed the ballad, initially had only a few lyrics and a tune, from which she received many positive reactions from her fan base. After finishing the song, she released it on iTunes. There, it climbed to the Top 100 list without any promotions from record labels. Since then, she has decided to sign with Columbia Records and release her EP “The Intro” in November of last year.
The simple style of Ruth B draws a huge fanbase. Her songs, while often bittersweet, are heartfelt and reach a large audience. Her EP “The Intro” includes four songs written by Ruth B before her signing with Columbia Records. Each song follows in the style of “Lost Boy.” Her voice is fresh and authentic. Her lyrics speak her millions of fans.
“Lost Boy,” a song originally written after Ruth watched an episode of “Once Upon A Time,” is a touching song about growing up. The song is simple and catchy but also delivers a message to listeners about being strong.
Many singer-songwriters have risen from social media outlets; Shawn Mendes is an example. Ruth B has just as much, if not more, potential than him. If you would like similar artists or styles, Halsey and other mainstream artists like Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran could be worth looking into. In the meantime, check out Ruth B’s EP The Intro and look out for more songs from the artist.
