I spent three days in New York and if I have to describe the days I spent there in a few words, I would say that they were dream-like and incredible. I always dreamed about New York City and saw myself living there and now that I’ve visited it, my dreams are bigger.
I looked through the window and there it was: the place that I had been waiting to see for years. The big city, there it was: New York City. That first view of the city is going to be in my mind forever with skyscrapers, with all the noises, it was just awesome.
I crossed the river underground and suddenly I was in Manhattan, surrounded by taxis, limousines and buildings so high that they wouldn’t let me see the sky. It was really cold and it was windy but when I saw the Empire State Building all the cold went out of me. I had been waiting to see that building for years and it’s awesome, I don’t have words to describe that magnificent building. I just love it.
The next day I took the subway to go downtown and I was so impressed with everything, especially the 9/11 memorial. The 9/11 memorial is basically two enormous squares where the Twin Towers were and all the names of the victims are written around these squares. I was overwhelmed, but it’s a good experience to know more about what happened and to remember the victims. After that, I went to see the Statue of Liberty and it was so pretty because it was the sunset, I will never forget that view.
Another day, I did something very simple, but it’s my favorite thing to do when I visit a city, and that’s walk. Walking around the city with all the people, the traffic, going inside the shop, it’s something that I love and it’s probably because I grew up in the city. So, that day I walked around the city visiting different markets, buildings and places like Times Square, the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center and, it was just amazing.
And, for me, one of the best things in New York is New York pizza. I love to take a piece of pizza and go eat it when I’m walking and that’s New York pizza, it’s big with a lot of cheese, pepperoni but never too much, it’s just perfect.
The last day in the city arrived and I didn’t want to leave, I wanted to stay there forever. I don’t know when, but I’m sure I’m coming back again because I feel like there are a lot of things I haven’t seen and I need to see. New York, see you soon.
