Middletown’s annual Christmas in the Valley, a celebration of the holiday spirit in and around Middletown’s Main Street, occurred on Dec. 2 from 4 to 8 p.m.
Meredythe Witt, Middletown High School, freshman said, “This event is basically the whole town of Middletown and the rest of the valley getting together to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season.”
One of the events that occurs is the Miracle on Main Street.
“Bring a new, unwrapped toy to the Main Street table in front of Town Hall,” stated the Middletown website. “In exchange for your donation, you will receive a bag that you can fill by visiting participating businesses throughout the evening.”
Another event is the Tree Lighting Ceremony.
Witt said that it’s her first Christmas here in Middletown. Witt, a member of the MHS choir, which will be performing, said that she “can infer that the tree will be lit.”
The other event is the Holiday Musical Program at the Zion Lutheran church.
“The holiday music program is basically musicians that go to the church and the MHS music department getting together and performing all different kinds of songs, from choir anthems to modern carols,” said Witt.
Preston Lindstrom, MHS junior, said he really enjoyed the whole ceremony last year and how it “was pleasure” to be there with everyone and experience the event.
Witt was impressed with the involvement of the community.
“Well, Christmas in the valley is in Middletown so the whole town goes,” said Witt.
