I know I said before being a twin isn’t all it’s cracked up to be; however, people should still know it can be pretty fantastic.
Having a twin allows you to have a companion by your side who you know can’t bail on you. They can’t be that best friend who you drift away from because that simply isn’t an option. You know that at the end of the day if you really need someone, your twin will always be there.
My brother recently left for college and it made me realize how fortunate I am for my twin because I will never have to be the only child left at the house.
Being a twin can also take out some of the struggle in finding friends.
When my twin Sarah and I came to a public school for the first time, we already had a group of friends. Sarah had played on a soccer team with some girls at our new school and had become friends with them.
Without Sarah I would’ve started out with no friends at all since I didn’t play any sports with the kids from our new school.
I study with Sarah, share things with her and spend countless hours with her every day. Thinking about college and adulthood really scares me because I won’t be able to face all of my good and bad times with her by my side.
You become dependent on your twin. Sarah is the shoulder I can cry on and makes me laugh like no one else can. Life without her is unimaginable – at the moment – and I think that’s how it is for most twins.
