A typical girl walks down the street wearing Uggs, holding her iPhone in one hand. But something is missing.
On either side of the road are two shops. On the left is Starbucks and on the right sits Dunkin’ Donuts. It’s time to make the ultimate decision.
Place yourself in the footsteps of one of these girls. Where would you go? Do you go to Dunkin’ or Starbucks?
Personally, I think it’s a hard decision. Recently Dunkin’ has made more of an appearance in my life. I’ve started to go there at least once a week and have even gotten a “perks” card. The card gives me coupons upon signing up for a free medium drink.
Overall, Dunkin’ is a fantastic place. Selling donuts, breakfast sandwiches, specialty drinks, and their own merchandise, the shop offers just about anything for your personal breakfast needs. And the best part is everything is priced at a decent rate.
On the other hand, there is Starbucks, the hub for all regular teen girls. It also has everything anybody could want for breakfast; however, this line is a little more on the pricey side.
They have incredible specialty drinks, like the pumpkin spice latte and peppermint mocha. And there’s one right in my hometown, Middletown, for students’ and teachers’ easy access.
Recently I went on a college visit to James Madison University. While on the walking tour I saw a mobile Starbucks shop, along with multiple other coffee shops. I didn’t notice any Dunkin’ Donuts, however, and was curious as to why. So I asked my tour guide if there were any on campus and she replied by giving me an interesting piece of information.
Over the course of many tours, she had found that people who came from north of JMU were loyal to Dunkin’ Donuts, but people south of the campus preferred Starbucks.
This makes sense because Massachusetts is where Dunkin’ Donuts was born, while Starbucks was born in Seattle.
According to boston.com, there are more than 11,000 Starbucks and 7,200 Dunkin’ Donuts, and both are expanding across the country.
So when the two lines take over the country and you find yourself in between with one hand empty, what is your ultimate decision?
