Recently, I read an article on msnbc.com on how Beyonce had won six trophies on Grammy night, making it a record.
Taylor Swift had won four, and her album, “Fearless,” was honored as album of the year.
As I was sitting down at the computer reading, I realized one thing; celebrities are people too. They may be rich and famous, but they are average and normal just like us – the people living in good ‘ol Middletown.
Sure, they may have amazing singing voices or great acting careers, but inside they are the same as you and me.
Fancy cars, designer clothes, and where you live may determine on what social class you are in. I’m no Paris Hilton, but I am proud of where I come from. I am not ashamed that I don’t drive a BMW or wear Gucci and Prada.
I was also on Facebook, and I noticed that my friends had put pictures of celebrities as their profile picture since it was “celebrity look-alike week”. The idea was to find a celebrity that looks like you and post him or her as your picture.
In my opinion, every day should be considered a “you” day where you get to be whoever you want to be. You don’t need to be famous or rich in order to be known or special. Just being yourself is the best gift you can offer yourself.
One doesn’t need to look up to a celebrity and think that you need to be just like them. How you wish you were skinny like Mary-Kate Olsen, or pretty like Megan Fox. Everyone is one of a kind in their own way.
I know that every day regular people are celebrities too, but in other aspects. You might not be in a magazine or a newspaper, but you are unique as a person, and don’t let someone to tell you that you aren’t.
