The Middletown High School girls soccer team will be heading to Williamsport tonight to take on the Wildcats. This will be the Knights second game of the season, and a rematch from last year’s 2A west regional semifinals.
This appears to be a titanic matchup between two teams who will be contending for the 2A state title this year.
The Knights are coming off an exciting 3-1 win over North Hagerstown on Monday night; MHS senior Mary Pritts who scored two goals within five minutes of each other in the first half led the team to victory. MHS junior Haley Dalphon also put one in the back of the net.
“From how they did last year and who they are bringing back this looks like it will be a tough challenge.” Says MHS junior defender Megan Runnells.
Williamsport is coming into this game 2-1 after a 3-1 loss to Westminister Monday night. The goalkeeper Haley Carter had eight saves, and Maddie Knode scored on a penalty kick for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats are returning seven starters and four all-county selections this year from a team that won the MVAL Antietam division and finished 13-3-1 last season.
The JV team is looking to continue their success tonight, after dismantling the Hubs on Monday. Lindsay Brandt, Nicole Mirani and Sidney Hohl scored goals for the Knights.
