The Middletown High School Knights Boys Cross Country team needed a good performance to boost their hopes before playoffs and they got what they were looking for, finishing tied for 5th place at the Don Stoner Invitational on Sturday.
Although, to the average reader, coming in a tie for 5th out of 10 teams may not seem like an improvement, it was for the Knights who not only had multiple runners reach best individual times, but had a runner finish in the Top 3 for the first time all year.
Knights junior Brent Leber came in first place in the Large Schools Division and second overall in the whole meet with a time of 16:09.5.
The Knights also had two more finishers in the top 30 with Knights junior Reese Whitesell finishing with a time of 18:38.0 and sophomore Joey Athey finishing with a time of 19:09.8.
