The Middletown High School hockey club is still searching for its niche at MHS. Although the club’s entire roster attends MHS, as of yet, there is no actual affiliation between the club and MHS.
The club began its 2008-2009 season without a returning coach or previous season’s scoring leader Alex Peters; yet after two games Middletown stands undefeated in league play at 2-0-0.
Middletown hopes to improve upon last season’s 9-5-1 record and first round playoff loss this season as another era in Middletown hockey begins with new coaches, MHS/Middletown hockey club alumni Chris Polous and Zach Naegle. Along with a new coaching staff, Middletown also welcomes four freshman, all forwards, onto the team.
The Middletown hockey club is part of the MSHL (Maryland Scholastic Hockey League) a large association that sponsors school and club teams. Middletown and other local club teams share the home ice of Skate Frederick. Middletown has its MSHL games Friday nights from 6-8 p.m., with key games against Thomas Johnson and Linganore on Dec. 19 and Jan. 23, respectively.
