The boys basketball team will head on the road to face off against their biggest rival, the Walkersville Lions, on Dec. 14.
This is their first meeting since last February when the Knights prevailed with a 59 – 49 win at home. The Knights are looking for the same type of result they got last year against the Lions; however, the Knights are making the trip into Lion territory, giving home-court advantage to Walkersville.
The Lions come into this game with one loss against Linganore and a win against South Carroll. Orlando Rosa of Walkersville has proven to be the teams leading scorer in the first two games. Rosa came away with 22 points against Linganore and finished with 19 against South Carroll.
Due to the Knights state title in football, they were forced to cancel two of their games in the first week, but they did come away with 61–41 victory against Smithsburg Dec. 7. Connor Mills was the leading scorer for the Knights with 14 points.
“It will be a really good and competitive game; especially since we will be playing at Walkersville,” said Mills.
Although the Knights are at Walkersville, they will have much support from Middletown High School students, who plan to bring a copy of the Frederick-News Post front page from the Knight’s football state championship to hold up while they announce the Walkersville players. MHS beat the Lions by a slim margin of 27-21 in the regional finals game for football.
This sure to be a hard fought battle for both teams and this may come down to the last final seconds.
