After another state title in indoor track, the girl’s team will look to win their fifth straight state title. The team has a lot of experience and versatility.
Senior Brittany Caudle returns to the team as a long distance runner, something she started this year. Along with Caudle, they have many young runners who look to continue the Knights success.
Junior Sarah Wreiden and sophomore Tara Shaffer will run in many of the sprint relays. Wreiden will high jump, triple jump, and long jump. Wreiden does a lot for the team and is very versatile.
The Knights also have senior Liana Kopp, who won states in the pole vault in indoor. Kopp along with senior Ally Hemme form a solid pole vaulting group. In the shot put, Melissa Shirley, who placed second at states in indoor, looks to have a big year.
With Caudle leading the long distance, and Wreiden and Shaffer leading the sprints, the Knights have a bunch of seniors who make this team a title contender.
Kathryn Papuchis and Hayley Keeney are two senior captains. Keeney runs sprints and Papuchis runs hurdles. They both have helped in scoring points each of their years on the team.
The Knights are coached by Frank Davis, who has worked the girls hard. Even the J.V. runners look good and are working hard. This team looks like it could be dominating for years to come.
