The Snakeman, Russell Hanson, came back to visit Middletown High School. Many students were excited, and many students in the biology and chemistry classes went and saw the Snakeman last year and were very excited when they heard he was coming back.
The Snakeman came to visit Middletown High School on Dec. 10. He showed the students all different types of snakes, big and small, black and white, orange and brown.
He also talked to the students about snake genetics. He also explains how students should not play with snakes if they do not know what they are doing, and to not handle a snake over 7 feet by yourself.
Hanson has been interested in snakes ever since he was a little kid. His kids also came interested in snakes, so he ended up buying them two female snakes. After buying the snakes and having them for awhile he realized what he wanted to do; breed snakes.
He also mentioned to the students a few stories that have happened to himself and friends of his, the dangers of handling a snake the wrong way. He informs the students the correct technique of how to handle any snake and how to care for one.
Afterwards, he made a speech about the snakes and allowed the students to get up close and personal with the snakes if the students wanted to. The students got to hold corn snakes, ball pythons and rat snakes and they were allowed to hold the snakes and put them around their necks.
