President Obama has declared the spread of the H1N1 virus to be a national emergency and a “rapid increase in illness,” according to ABC News.
Obama signed the declaration Oct. 5 and then announced it the following day.
Since the H1N1 pandemic began in April, millions have already been infected. At least 20,000 people in the U.S have been hospitalized and over 1,000 victims have died.
