The Middletown High School Dance team and Nu Delta Alpha, the school’s dance honors society, performed together during halftime at the MHS versus Linganore High School basketball game on Feb. 8. After the performance the two groups collected donations to benefit the Middletown Food Bank.
The Middletown Food Bank has an ongoing need for food throughout the winter season, and because the society is service based, this is one of the many ways that NDA is giving back to the community.
NDA president and Middletown High School senior Taylor Corcoran said that “it was a nice outcome- it looks like we got a lot of donations. It’s nice to see that everyone cares about helping out the Food Bank.” Corcoran also said that she likes that the society gives the opportunity to combine dance with academics, character, and service.
The NDA’s next activity will be to organize a concert of performing artists from MHS, which will include the school’s Vocal Ensemble, Jazz Band, dancers and Show Choir, as well as the cast from “Crazy for You”, the drama department’s spring musical.
The proceeds from the upcoming benefit will benefit the Patty Pallotos Foundation, which is a non-profit organization to assist cancer patients.
