The crowd was buzzing with anticipation as student after student represented Middletown High School in a grand showing of trivia skills.
The MHS academic team did not win the match against Frederick and Brunswick High Schools on Feb. 27, but had an overall successful season.
“I think they’re great,” said MHS principal and spectator Jay Berno. “We have a regional basketball game going on right now, but this is where I’d rather be. This is the good stuff; not that basketball isn’t good.”
Both opposing high schools provided intimidating competition, but MHS players were proud of the results.
“We started off strong with two wins and then….sort of simmered down,” said sophomore academic player Julia Winzer. “It was a good feeling to almost beat the number one seat.”
