This award speaks volumes about the quality and character of our Knights and the Middletown football program.
The ruling against Middletown of an incomplete pass that looked for all the world to be complete just short of the goal line, and the credit of a touchdown to our opponents on a pass which looked to be to a receiver who was out of bounds, has some of us who were in the stands convinced that the score was backwards. But this was not a game officiated by professional league standards and tools like instant replay, so the initial calls by the officials were respected. It was a bitter pill, but the Knights showed their class and grace in a display of incredibly good sportsmanship.
Thank you to all of our Knights, for being the excellent champions you proved to be. You have set the bar high as an example for your peers around the state as well as for those of us in the stands! We will be with you again next year!
