Thisissand.com is a website that allows the user to create pictures using colorful sands. In a person’s free time it is the perfect game to play. Pictures made by the sand can be simple or intricate; it’s up to the user to decide.
The website even includes a “falling sand” sound effect that gives the user the full effect of feeling like they are playing with sand.
When the user is done with their picture, they can put it in a gallery for others to see, and also view all the other pictures made by people around the world. If someone needs inspiration, they can look at other pictures before starting their own sand art.
Directions for using thisissand.com can be found by clicking on the gray box in the top left corner of the webpage.
Thisissand.com was created by Johanna Lundberg and Timo Koro in 2008. The purpose is to give users a way to use their free time in a creative, fun manner.
“Thisissand.com is fun but it gets kind of frustrating if you mess up if you want to make a really good picture. I would recommend it if you have a lot of time and patience,” said Middletown High School freshman Danielle Williams.
