John Madden has retired and he did it at the right time. Madden, unlike others, didn’t carry his career out years longer then he should. No, he ended it at the right time.
Madden was the Man on Monday Night Football. Most of the game, the only one listened to was Madden.
Three years ago, he moved to Sunday Night Football; it was a huge change for the football world. The only thing worse would be making Faith Hill the opening singer for Monday Night Football, instead of Hank Williams Jr., but thank you for not doing that.
Madden was the announcer who every one understood. One of his players once said he was the only man who could explain the game to his grandmother.
Everyone loved Madden’s video game: the odd sayings like “Boom” and his personality alone. Madden was put into the Hall of Fame in 2006 as a coach and announcer.
Madden told the media the reason he retired was to spend more time with his family. There has been rumors starting already about him taking a management position for the Oakland Raiders, but let’s not jump the gun.
Chris Collinsworth has been picked to replace Madden on Sunday Night Football. Collinsworth will announce along side Michaels, but everyone will miss Madden and his way of calling a game.
