Jay Cutler got his wish by getting traded from the Denver Broncos. The Chicago Bears gave the Broncos two first-round drafts picks, the 18th pick in this years draft and their first round pick next year.
Along with the first round picks, the Bears sent away their starting quarterback, Kyle Orton, and a third round pick in this years draft.
The move should make the Bears the front runners in a weak NFC North. There were many teams interested in Cutler, but the Bears were the first to give up a starting quarterback and two first rounders.
There were rumors that the Redskins had tried to make a move, but it fell apart. Cutler is a good quarterback and gives the Bears there first Pro Bowl caliber quarterback in years.
In my opinion, Orton was a good quarterback who in a few years would be a very good quarterback. To give him up and their first round picks for the next two years is a stretch.
Cutler is an up grade but not much of one; he is only 25 years old. I see Cutler as an overrated player in this league.
It will be fun to see what he does without All-Pro receiver Brandon Marshall lining up outside to throw to.
Instead, he has a group of no names to throw to. He doesn’t handle pressure well either; take the way he handled the situation with new coach Josh McDaniels and the trade rumors.
Cutler acted like a kid he took the trade rumors personally, and in the NFL, you have to be a man.
He has three years left on his contract and I can’t wait to see how long it takes him to mess things up in Chicago.
